Hi, everyone. I’m Nozomi, an immigration lawyer in Japan.
Have you ever heard about the status of residence “Highly Skilled Professional”? If not, there is no harm in your knowing about this.
“Highly Skilled Professional” has No.1 and No.2. In addition, No.1 is divided into three types: 1a, 1b, and 1c. There are various preferential treatments for this status of residence, such as granting a period of stay of “5 years”, relaxing permanent residence requirements, multiple work activities, hiring a domestic employee, and bringing parents from their home country.
The ministerial ordinance stipulates standards for point calculation, and points are set for each item such as academic background, work history, annual income, research results, etc., according to the characteristics of each activity. The total is over 70 points, and for “Highly Skilled Professional(No.1a,1b,1c)”, the total amount of remuneration is required to be 3 million yen or more (minimum annual income standard).
